A father told detectives he was the one responsible for caring for his 1‑month‑old babies overnight while their mother slept, but prosecutors say the real story is a pattern of abuse that ended with both infants dead. The district attorney alleges the twins suffered fatal injuries over a period of time, not in a single incident, and that neither parent ever sought medical attention as the babies’ conditions grew worse.
Investigators say the father later claimed he woke up and found the twins unresponsive, portraying himself as a panicked caregiver confronted with a sudden tragedy. But according to the DA, evidence shows both the father and the children’s mother repeatedly caused trauma to the infants and ignored clear warning signs that something was gravely wrong.
“When 1‑month‑old babies have multiple serious injuries and no one ever takes them to a doctor, that is not a mistake,” the DA said while announcing the charges. “These infants had no voice. The evidence shows the people who should have protected them are the same people who caused their deaths.”
Both parents now face serious criminal charges in connection with the deaths of the twins, and authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
