“Justin – The Son Who Never Made It Home”
Today, we mourn the heartbreaking loss of Justin — a 25-year-old proud Asian-American soldier who gave his life in service to the nation he loved.
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Justin was the light of his mother’s world. From a young age, it was just the two of them — Justin and his mother, May. She worked tirelessly in the bustling streets of Chinatown to give her son a better future. Justin repaid that love with unwavering devotion and a deep sense of duty.
At just 18 years old, Justin made a life-changing decision. Through a special enlistment program, he joined the United States Army. He trained at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, and quickly earned a reputation as a dedicated, respectful, and hardworking soldier. He participated in numerous humanitarian missions, both at home and abroad — helping build schools in rural communities and volunteering with his unit at food banks in Atlanta and San Francisco.
Justin was more than a soldier. He was a good son who called his mother every week, no matter where he was stationed. He was a young man who believed in service — not just to his country, but to the people around him.
Last week, tragedy struck without warning. While traveling to a military base overseas, Justin was killed in a sudden accident. The young man who had just begun to live his purpose was taken far too soon.
His mother, May, now 48 years old, received the devastating call in the middle of the night at their modest home in San Francisco. The same woman who once proudly watched her son march in uniform now sits alone in an empty house filled with photographs and memories.
There will be no more weekly calls. No more proud stories from the Army. Only silence… and an unimaginable void where her only child once was.
To Justin: Thank you for your service, your kindness, and your beautiful heart. You made your mother proud every single day.
To Mrs. May: Our hearts break for you. No mother should ever have to bury her son. May the love Justin had for you wrap around your heart and give you strength in the darkest days ahead.
Rest in peace, Justin. From the hills of San Francisco to the training grounds of Fort Liberty, and now into the arms of heaven — you lived with honor and left with grace.
You may be gone, but your light continues to shine in the hearts of those who loved you.
