“Details on the call indicated that an adult female was on the nearby canal bank and was unresponsive,” the police said in a statement. “When officers arrived, they located the woman, who was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene.”

Phoenix police have yet to release any identifying information about the woman they found, but the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement to Fox News Digital that they have not been alerted that there’s any connection to the Guthrie case.

The slow pace of the investigation has frustrated Guthrie’s loved ones — including her daughter, “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, who has offered a $1 million cash reward for information leading to her safe return or recovery.

A large amount of evidence recovered from the home, including traces of blood, is still being investigated. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos warned it could take up to “a year” to analyze it all, particularly the evidence containing DNA.

The PCSD told The Post that the investigation remains very active with some 300-400 personnel still assigned to the case, the same as when the case was first opened.
