The family of\u00a0Renee Good, the woman\u00a0shot and killed by an ICE agent\u00a0in Minneapolis, has hired a law firm previously retained by the family of\u00a0George Floyd.<\/p>\n

Romanucci & Blandin, a Chicago-based law firm, said in a news release Wednesday, Jan. 14, that it and an attorney in Minneapolis, were representing Good\u2019s partner, parents and siblings. The attorneys said they were launching what they described as a civil investigation into the shooting that left the mother of three dead.<\/p>\n

The attorneys offered the family\u2019s fullest account to date of what happened on Jan. 7, when Good was fatally shot by ICE agent\u00a0Jonathan Ross\u00a0while she was behind the wheel of her Honda Pilot. The firm said Good and her partner, Becca Good, saw federal agents in their neighborhood after dropping their 6-year-old child at school and stopped to \u201cobserve, with the intention of supporting and helping their neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Founding partner Antonio Romanucci said in a statement that people \u201cwant to know what could and should have been done to let Renee live and pick her child up safely from school that afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shooting has been the subject of intense national scrutiny after federal officials claimed Good had tried to weaponize her vehicle, an account that has been strongly disputed by local officials as well as Good\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe community is not receiving transparency about this case elsewhere, so our team will provide that to the country,\u201d the law firm said in the release. The firm pledged to provide updates to the public about what it learned as it gathers information.<\/p>\n

Romanucci & Blandin represented Floyd\u2019s family after he was killed by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020, a case that sparked nationwide protests. In 2021, the firm helped secure a $27 million settlement for Floyd\u2019s family after filing a lawsuit against the City of Minneapolis and the four police officers accused in his death.<\/p>\n
