WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0Disgraced ex-Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax\u00a0killed his estranged wife and then himself inside their million-dollar home in the Washington, DC, suburbs early Thursday \u2014 after he spiraled into booze and financial ruin following sexual assault allegations and a bitter divorce fight.<\/p>\n

The 47-year-old Democrat \u2014 who was under court order to vacate the family home at the end of the month \u2014 shot wife Cerina Fairfax multiple times in the basement of their Annandale house just after midnight before\u00a0turning the gun on himself, according to Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s two teenage children were inside the home at the time of the murder-suicide, and their 16-year-old son called 911 to report the shootings after discovering his mother\u2019s bloody body sprawled out on the floor, harrowing audio revealed.<\/p>\n
