<\/a><\/p>\nTech Sgt. Tyler Simmons, 28, was one of six American service members killed Thursday when an Air Force refueling aircraft crashed during operations supporting the war in Iran.<\/p>\n
Simmons\u2019 family believes the tragedy never had to happen.<\/p>\n
Stephan Douglas: Just the worst nightmare we could ever imagine. We trust in God that he will comfort us and be with our family. We believe this could have been prevented. It\u2019s a sad day.<\/p>\n
Douglas was blunt about the war itself.<\/p>\n
Stephan Douglas: We DID NOT need to be in this war. This is uncalled for, and this is what we get.<\/p>\n
Simmons\u2019 grandmother said families across the country are now paying the price.<\/p>\n
Bernice Smith: Families are suffering right now. Just to create a war because you want to create a war is not right.<\/p>\n
But they went one step further — the family urged Americans to remember the fallen when they vote.<\/p>\n
Their statement: Vote for Tyler and the five others who lost their lives recently and for all those serving our country.<\/p>\n
