The family of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother, wife, and poet, is reeling in grief after she was\u00a0fatally shot\u00a0<\/strong>by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

Good, originally from Colorado Springs, was\u00a0killed<\/strong>\u00a0just blocks from her home \u2014\u00a0a place she had recently moved into with her partner.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a woman identified as Good\u2019s wife was seen in a state of\u00a0utter devastation.<\/strong>\u00a0Covered in blood<\/i>, she reportedly\u00a0cried out<\/u>, \u201cThey shot her in the head. I have a 6-year-old in school.\u201d Distraught and panicked, she\u00a0added<\/u>, \u201cI made her come down here, [sic] it\u2019s my fault. They just shot my wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Victim\u2019s Mother Remembers Kind Daughter<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Good\u2019s mother, Donna Ganger, confirmed her daughter\u2019s identity and shared heartfelt memories of\u00a0who Good was\u00a0<\/strong>beyond the headlines<\/i>.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cRenee was one of the kindest people I\u2019ve ever known,\u201d she\u00a0said<\/u>. \u201cShe was extremely compassionate. She\u2019s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and [sic] affectionate. She was an amazing human being.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe was probably terrified,\u201d Ganger\u00a0added<\/u>\u00a0of her daughter\u2019s killing. She also clarified that Good was\u00a0never a part of any protest affiliations against ICE agents.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A passionate creative, Good once\u00a0described herself<\/u>\u00a0on social media as a \u201cpoet and writer and wife and mom and [expletive] guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis, MN.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2020, while studying creative writing at Old Dominion University, she received the university\u2019s undergraduate poetry prize for her work titled \u201cOn Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs.\u201d She also co-hosted a podcast with her then-husband, the late Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who passed away in 2023 at just 36 years old.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Grandfather of Late Woman\u2019s Child Speaks Out<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., Good\u2019s former father-in-law, expressed deep sorrow upon learning of\u00a0her death<\/u>. His son and Good\u00a0shared a child<\/strong>\u00a0who is now six years old. \u201cThere\u2019s nobody else in his life,\u201d he\u00a0expressed<\/u>. \u201cI\u2019ll drive. I\u2019ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He also noted that Good had two additional children, believed to be living with extended family. In the days following the tragedy, neighbors and friends\u00a0spoke warmly about Good and the life she was building with her family in Minneapolis.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Friends and Neighbors Remember Renee as a Beacon of Love<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Mary Radford, a 27-year-old neighbor, recalled seeing Good and her young son outside often, playing with Radford\u2019s Australian shepherd, Hazelnut.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful family. They have a son. He\u2019s very sweet. He loves our dog,\u201d Radford\u00a0said<\/u>\u00a0through tears. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna miss seeing them \u2014 forever. It is so painful to think about how he\u2019s gonna fare in his life. And I just can\u2019t even imagine what that family is going through.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Others echoed Radford\u2019s sentiments. Megan Kocher, who had recently met Good and her wife, remembered being welcomed into their home with tea and cookies. \u201c[She] was such a warm and loving mother. This is tragic beyond words,\u201d Kocher\u00a0wrote<\/u>\u00a0on social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another speaker\u00a0pushed back against\u00a0<\/i>official narratives<\/strong>,\u00a0saying<\/u>\u00a0Good was present on Portland Avenue on Wednesday \u201cto watch the terrorists,\u201d rejecting the notion that she\u00a0posed a threat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As reported by KARE 11, the\u00a0incident\u00a0occurred at the intersection of 34th Street and Portland Avenue in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ICE agents were\u00a0conducting\u00a0\u201ctargeted operations\u201d when they were allegedly confronted by individuals\u00a0attempting to interfere.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
