But several videos captured by witnesses appear to show Pretti holding his phone up to agents, not a gun.<\/p>\n
Another piece of footage apparently shows an officer removing Pretti\u2019s gun from his waistband before shots were fired.<\/p>\n
Minneapolis police said the Veterans Affairs (VA) nurse had no serious criminal history and was a lawful gun owner with a valid permit.<\/p>\n
After Pretti was seemingly disarmed, the footage does not clearly show the origin of the first shot.<\/p>\n
One gun expert has said he believes Pretti\u2019s Sig Sauer P320 went off in the hands of an agent, prompting another agent to open fire.<\/p>\n

Trump said his administration will investigate Pretti\u2019s fatal shooting, as he signaled a\u00a0willingness to withdraw immigration enforcement officials<\/span>\u00a0from Minneapolis.<\/p>\n\u2018We\u2019re looking, we\u2019re reviewing everything and will come out with a determination,\u2019 Trump told the WSJ. \u2018At some point we will leave.\u2019<\/p>\n
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he\u00a0spoke to Trump about the immigration crackdown in his city and some federal officers will begin leaving<\/span>.<\/p>\nFrey said that during a call with the president, they both agreed that the situation regarding ICE\u2019s presence cannot continue.<\/p>\n
The mayor claimed that some agents will begin leaving as early as Tuesday. Sources familiar with the situation said that\u00a0Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino<\/span>\u00a0is among those being pushed out.<\/p>\nBovino has been at the center of the Trump administration\u2019s aggressive immigration enforcement surge in cities nationwide.<\/p>\n
He has been criticized over the last few days for his\u00a0public defense of the Pretti shooting<\/span>\u00a0and disputed claims about the encounter that led to his death.<\/p>\n\n

But DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote on X that Bovino \u2018has NOT been relieved of his duties\u2019 and remains \u2018a key part of the President\u2019s team.\u2019<\/p>\n
Frey plans to keep fighting to ensure others involved in\u00a0Operation Metro Surge go<\/span>.<\/p>\nOperation Metro Surge is\u00a0the enforcement campaign launched on December 1, 2025, that dramatically expanded the federal law enforcement presence in Minnesota.<\/p>\n
